The statue depicts Giuseppe Garibaldi (1807-1882), the Italian national hero. The bronze statue is based on a stone basement with inferior part adorned with lion heads. On a side, the inscription II GIUGNO MDCCCC (June, 2nd 1900), the established date of inauguration, actually postposed at July, 8th. Under the statue the name of places where Garibaldi fought are written. On the front side a bronze plate is placed with a dedicatory inscription.
Garibaldi is portrayed with its typical unconventional suit. The horse is staying, but under the quiet pose appear the powerful muscles. The couple transmits a sense of serenity, as at the end of a whole military and political project, ending with the unity of Italy.
