The city hall is located in downtown Bakersfield, across from the police station and close to the courthouse. The building is a five story modern brick building and houses the offices of the city's representatives.
Bakersfield is the largest city and county seat of Kern County. Its 2010 population was 347,483. The city was incorporated in 1898. Through its history it's been a center for oil drilling, which still can be found in the city today.
