DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1935 (CAS) THIS INTERSECTION STATION IS THE SQUAT SILVER TANK IN THE VILLAGE OF PILOT POINT, TEXAS. IT IS ABOUT 50 FEET W OF THE CENTER LINE OF JEFFERSON STREET, ABOUT 65 FEET N OF THE CENTER LINE OF DIVISION STREET, AND ABOUT 80 FEET E OF THE CENTER LINE OF WASHINGTON STREET (STATE HIGHWAY 10). THE TANK WAS ERECTED IN 1915 AND IS QUITE PROMINENT. THE TANK HAS FOUR TRUSSWORK LEGS ABOUT 90 FEET HIGH. THE OVAL SECTION EXTENDS DOWNWARD ABOUT 8 FEET. THE VERTICAL SECTION IS ABOUT 25 FEET HIGH, HAS A CATWALK AND RAIL AROUND ITS BASE, AND THE WORDS PILOT POINT PAINTED IN WHITE LETTERS ON THE N AND S SIDES. THE FLAT CONICAL ROOF HAS A BALL AT ITS APEX. THE TOTAL HEIGHT IS ABOUT 120 FEET.

RECOVERY NOTE BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1955 (RLE) THE STATION IS LOCATED ONE BLOCK SOUTH OF THE SQUARE IN PILOT POINT. THE TANK HAS A CONICAL ROOF WITH A BALL AT THE APEX, IS SUPPORTED BY A FOUR LEGGED STEEL STRUCTURE AND HAS AN OVER-ALL HEIGHT OF 120 FEET. THE POINT OBSERVED UPON WAS THE TOP AND CENTER OF THE ROOF.
