The websites on hauntings claim Alonzo Roberson haunts the elevator and halls in the mansion, his home that he donated as a place of education. The building was constructed in 1904 and opened to the public in 1954.
From the website below:
"Since then, visitors to the Mansion have reported the sensation that they are not alone or that they are being watched. Strange noises and cold spots are reported as well as mysterious footsteps where no living person is seen walking. Doors reportedly slam when people are being too nosy, so stick with your tour guide! Perhaps most interestingly, some visitors have reportedly met Alonzo Jr. himself in the elevator. "
Public access?:
The Mansion is open to those who either pay the entry fee or become members. There are sometimes free nights on First Fridays (first Friday of the month is an day for art studios in Binghamton).
