This is a spring and a lavoir was built nearby, many many years ago.

This lavoir was built near a natural spring so local women would have free and abundant water to wash their clothes. It's located near the village of Linhaceira, in Central Portugal.
There are no traces of current usage. Probably nobody goes there anymore. The lavoir is not dated but there is a stone plaque in the spring: 1886.
