Located inconspicuously along Hwy 39 is a historical 'T' marker that reads:
DENNIS CRAWLEY CABINSITUATED APPROXIMATELY 300 YARDS SOUTH-
WEST. USED DURING FIRST BATTLE OF THE
MODOC WAR 1872-73 AS A FORT & HOSPITAL.
KLAMATH COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY-KLAMATH COUNTY HISTORICAL LANDMARK COMMISSION 1982
This historical marker is part of a series of historical markers located all around Klamath County and commissioned by the Klamath County Historical Society.
The Dennis Crawley Cabin no longer exists and the land it was once on is now private property. There is a nice article from the National Park Service which contains a chapter devoted to the first battle of the Modoc War and it mentions Crawley's Cabin numerous times.
