to Prague Castle, closing up the whole western side of the Hradcanské square.

The Tuscany Palace (In Czech: Toskánský palác) is a two-storied Baroque building with a long facade and two entrance portals, having all the hallmarks of buildings designed by Jean Baptiste Mathey of Burgundy. Giacomo Antonio Canavalle built the Tuscany Palace for count Michael Oswald Thun in 1689–1691 according to genial Mathey's design. On the facade of the palace are numerous statues of famous Bohemian Baroque sculptor Jan Maxmilián Brokof. The palace received its name from its next owner, the Grand Duchess of Tuscany (and Duchess of Saxe-Lauenburg - Anna Maria Franziska, 1672-1741; her coat of arms you can see above the entrance portals). Since 1848 it was a personal property of Austrian Emperor Franz Joseph I.
After being confiscated by state, the palace came into the hands of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It last underwent reconstruction work from 1994 to 1998.
Toskánský palác, nekdy i Thun-Hohenštejnský palác, je mohutná barokní stavba palácového typu, která se nachází na západní strane Hradcanského námestí v mestské cásti Praha 1 na Hradcanech. V soucasnosti tuto budovu využívá Ministerstvo zahranicních vecí Ceské republiky.
