Cougar is a bronze sculpture placed by Osoyoos Mountain Estates at the entrances to their featured properties. Cougar is very well executed and is displayed on large rocks. He is watchful of unsuspecting passersby. The sculpture was created by an unknown artist. We have passed these sculptures on several occasions and they were most likely placed about 2011.
The cougar also known as the mountain lion, puma, panther and mountain cat and is found from the Canadian Yukon to the southern Andes of South America. Cougars are secretive and largely solitary by nature.
An excellent stalk and ambush predator, the cougar pursues a wide variety of prey. Primary food sources include deer, elk, moose, and bighorn sheep. This cat prefers habitats with dense underbrush and rocky areas for stalking, but can also live in open areas.
