The Phoebe Snow passenger service went from New Jersey to Buffalo through the Binghamton area. There were also freight trains. This tour references stations, buildings, and crashes on the Lackawanna Railroad.
Going from west to east, start at the Apalachin Train Station. The Vestal stops can be done in any order. Park and enter the Vestal Rail Trail at Stage Road parking and entry. Go through the Coal House, walk down the old rail bed and the train wreck sign is on the left before the route 26 bridge. The Vestal Train Station is on the Parkway in the library parking lot. Next is the train bridge which can be viewed in Vestal at the end of Gates Road. The last stop is the Binghamton Train Station and the adjacent Marconi Tower.
