Just southwest of Nancy Green Lake & Provincial Park one will encounter the Paulson Nordic Ski Area on the south side of Highway 3. This is a large cross country area with groomed trails and first aid stations, outhouses and shelters scattered about on the trails. The Castlegar Nordic Ski Club has operated this 45 km. of packed and tracked ski trails for the past 50 years. A single membership (Register Online) costs $60 per year if paid before November 21; $65, if paid after. Here is a map of the trail system in PDF form. Below is a more complete description of the facility.
Castlegar Nordic Ski Club

The Castlegar Nordic Ski Club has been providing well maintained cross country ski trails in the Rossland-Paulson area for the last 50 years.

With approximately 45 km. of packed and tracked ski trails ranging from beginner to advanced levels, the Castlegar Ski Club hosts approximately 15,000 to 20,000 visitors every season to these trails. There are trails for everyone, including a 7.5 km circular route from Mud Lake to the Ben Shaw cabin that is ideal for young families and beginners, and an additional 8 kms of untracked trails for the super advanced skier.

Since becoming a Society in 1990, club membership has grown from 400 to over 800 individuals and families from the Castlegar, Trail and Rossland areas. Membership also extends to Grand Forks and Nelson, with a few members from Washington State and as far away as Vancouver.

The trails are located about 32 km west of Castlegar on Highway 3, just west of the junction of Highways 3 and 3B at Nancy Greene Lake. The area where the trails are located has been designated as a Forest Recreation Area by the B.C. Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations. Click here to see a general location map.
