Long Description:
Much of the original town site of Cascade City is now the Christina Lake Golf Course, a Les Furber course in a mostly wilderness setting. Eighteen holes with a nice clubhouse, this is a pretty nice course for a town this small. But then, we need to remember that Christina Lake is a pretty busy tourist town through the summer, so this course gets lots of play between April and October. We visited in the latter part of October and the parking lot was at least half full. Membership is currently right around 500.

There are some small ponds guarding four of the greens, nothing serious. The front nine is more open than the back, with fewer and smaller trees and slightly wider fairways. On the back it's possible to push it deep into the forest. Reasonably long, the course plays at 6785 from the blacks. This is only the second course we've seen with black sand bunkers, the other one being in Anaconda, Montana. The sand here, like there, is likely from smelter slag which would have come from the old Granby Smelter in Grand Forks. Makes it really easy to spy your ball when you find beach.
