Gilpin Cemetery (No. 2)

This Gilpin Cemetery was established about 1939 by Sons of Freedom Doukhobors to serve the community of Gilpin. It is partially maintained and is still in active use. It is privately owned by the Crown and is leased to the community. It is located within the Kootenay Boundary Regional District.

There are approximately 15 grave sites and when we visited the cemetery there was a recent internment, the flowers were still fresh.

The majority of the graves are unmarked; however most of the mounds are still evident and marked by piles of rocks.
