When the station Olten-Hammer was reformed and modernized a first time in 1935, a fountain was placed on the square in front. Nearby is the "village hole" was on the Dünnern where the had begun "industrial" life of the city Olten: with an iron melt and forge (since 1482) and a mill (1597), later a wire drawing (1689). Next were there in the first Oltner "industrial district" a bleach, a Stampfi and a Öli, where a shoe factory, a dyeing factory and a felt cloth followed.
