This binocular is mounted on the look-out platform of Feldberg Tower.

Feldberg Tower is is a round brick tower with a height of 45 meters, that is eleven stories. It is located on Seebuck, a secondary peak of Feldberg, the highest mountain of the Black Forest. It is just a few minutes from the top station of the gondola lift. There is a small entrance fee, but entrance is included in the lift ticket price, and there is also free access with a local tourist card.

The tower was used as a transmission tower until 2001. In 2003 the municipality of Feldberg became the owner of the tower and opened it for the public. In 2013 the Black Forest Ham Museum opened in the second floor.

When the weather is clear the tower offers a breath-taking view over several hundred kilometers: the Black Forest, the French Vosgues in the west, Jura and the Alps in the south. Next to mountains in Germany, France and Switzerland, even some major peaks in Austria and Italy can be visible.

But there can also be some bad weather, during my visit the view through the fog dropped to less than two(!) meters.
