Text: The cemetery one-half mile west is on the site of a meeting house deeded to the Methodist Society by John Fontaine in 1802. Bishop Francis Asbury had held services at Island Creek on March 4, 1796, in "a pole house." In 1882 the members had moved to other churches. Annual services were held for a time by the Island Creek Memorial Association.
