The town's name is derived from the Choctaw phrase iti bina, meaning "forest camp". The marker is located at the intersection of Schley Street (Mississippi Route 7) and Humphreys Street.

Plantation home site (from which town was named) of Brig. Gen. Benj. G. Humphreys, C.S.A.. Elected governor of Mississippi, Oct., 1865. Forcibly removed by Carpetbag regime, June, 1868.
