The Place: The Colonel John Haslet Armory Building houses the Delaware State Office Of Management and Budget, the Department of Finance and satellite offices of the Delaware National Guard. It is located southwest of the Delaware Legislative Hall in Dover, the state capital. It is a brick, colonial style structure built to replace the previous armory that was destroyed by a hurricane in 1954.

The Person: John Haslet (1727-1777) was an Irish-born clergyman and soldier. He was a veteran of the French and Indian War and became the first Delaware Colonel of the Continental Army. Haslet was a friend of Declaration of Independence signer Caesar Rodney. Colonel Haslet was killed in action at the Battle of Princeton.
