Die Telefonzelle in der Adenauerallee wurde der Stadt Bonn am 01.09.1987 von der Stadt Oxford anlässlich der 40jährigen Partnerschaft der beiden Universitätsstädte geschenkt. Es handelt sich um eine Originalzelle vom Typ K6 ("Jubilee Kiosk") des Architekten Sir Giles Gilbert Scott, hergestellt von der Carron Company aus Sterlingshire.
Sie wurde tatsächlich einige Jahre lang durch die Deutsche Post als Telefonzelle genutzt, stand dann aber lange ungenutzt herum. 2010 wurde sie schließlich durch den Oxford Club Bonn mit Unterstützung lokaler Unternehmen renoviert und zu einem öffentlichen Bücherschrank umgebaut.

The telephone box in the Adenauerallee was a present by the city of Oxford to the city of Bonn on 09/01/1987, on the occasion of a 40-year partnership between the two university towns. It is an original kiosk of type K6 ("Jubilee Kiosk") by architect Sir Giles Gilbert Scott, built by Carron Company in Sterlingshire.
Actually, it was used as telephone box for many years by the German Post, but was also unused for some time afterwards. Finally, in 2010, the Oxford Club Bonn renovated and converted it to a public book exchange with the support of local companies.
