The Fish Pond was once part of a ship building yard & has now been enclosed, apart from a small gap which connects it to Currambene Creek. This gap has a cage which allows fingerlings to enter but as they grow they are prevented from leaving.
Visitors don't need to enter the museum to feed the fish or wander around the enclosure. You can purchase a small bag of fish food from an honesty can secured to the jetty. The cost is a $1 & the coins are dropped into a steel pipe. The fish are quite active feeders so you get a very good view from above. You can't touch them or enter the water.
I had mullet & luderick (black fish) swirling around chasing my food.
