The reservoir was built in 1954 as a source of drinking water for the city of Alliance, Ohio. The lake is 300 acres with a large wooded area with picnic tables and grills. There is a boat ramp to launch boats with electric motors only. There is a small fishing pier and the trailhead of the 4.5 mile Mahoning Valley Trail for hiking and biking.
