Das Deutsche Weintor befindet sich in Schweigen-Rechtenbach nahe der deutsch-französischen Grenze. An der Südseite des Steinsockels ist seit März 1945 die Inschrift „Jere Gill Min. Wells 3-45“ eingemeißelt, dazu eine Karte mit der Silhouette des US-Bundesstaates Texas. Der Stern markiert die genaue Lage der Stadt Mineral Wells. Der Texaner Jere(my) Gill war vermutlich nach der Aliiertenoffensive am Deutschen Weintor stationiert.
The monument "Deutsches Weintor" near the border between France and Germany was occupied by the US army in March 1945 in the last days of WW II. The US soldier Jere(my) Gill was positioned there and engraved the stone of the monument with his name, the date and the name of his home town Mineral Wells: „Jere Gill Min. Wells 3-45“. he also engraved the shape of texas and marked the position of Mineral Wells with a star.
