The former Bank is constructed of limestone. This is a one story building. The entrance is on the left with double wood and glass doors. The rest of the fenestration consists of a double paned bay window. A black cloth awning is above the entryway and the bay window. An carved entablature "Farmer's Bank" is centered above the awning. A solid stone turret appears on either end of the roofline, which is stepped in the front and topped in the center by a finial.

"What a surprise for the eyes to see this little limestone bank in Smiths Grove, KY. (Smiths Grove is a small town in Warren County, about 20 miles east of Bowling Green.)

The Farmer's Bank building is currently unoccupied. (It now is home to an Insurance Agency.) I found the following information about its history:

Erected in 1894, Farmer's Bank is a pretentious limestone structure built for Dave and James R. Kirby by an itinerant stone mason. Closed in 1931, Farmer's Bank never reopened and was later used as a post office.

Visit Instructions:
To post a log to an existing U.S. Post Office waymark, you will need to post a picture of the front of the building, with the name of the post office in the background if that is possible.

A description of your Post Office is required, such as when it was built, history, outstanding or unique features, population of the city or town, just do a quick internet search and find an interesting bit of information about the city or town and add it to the long description, to make it more interesting. Even just adding in the population of the area can give others an idea of how many people this post office serves. This description should be at least three sentences.

If your Post Office has any unusual or unique features that you feel others would enjoy viewing, additional pictures are always welcome.
Including your gps device in the picture is not necessary, but wouldn't be cause for disapproval, as long as all other details of your log are acceptable.
