There are a limited number of confluence points nearby. At least 3 have been done in California. Two in Nevada appear to be sidehill and gone.

Lake Tahoe is the tenth deepest lake in the world at 1,646 feet.
It is the second deepest in the United States. The elevation is 6,229 feet.
There are over 30 major peaks around this volcanic formed lake. Lake Tahoe is 22 miles East to West and up to 12 miles North to South. It's depth is about 1,200 feet at the confluence point. That is about 3 miles north of Ski Run Blvd. and 3 miles west between Pope Beach and Regan Beach.

Lake Tahoe was originally named Lake Bigler after the 3rd California governor.
One may follow the scenic loop from HW 89 north to HW 28 (at Tahoe City) and back to HW 50 at Spooner junction. It is about 69 miles and can take two hours or more.
HW89 is not an all year highway. It is 2 lanes. The South shore is very urban and has many traffic signals, all fast food options, lodging, and casinos.

Always check weather conditions and temperatures before attempting activities at high elevation. Conditions change rapidly.
Rental boats cannot be beached. This was done in a 22 foot, 300 hp boat.
There is a Coast Guard station near Tahoe City. It is one of 18 in Calif.
There must be 50 post offices! ?
