This crosswalk is on Columbia Avenue, which is also Highway 22 as it passes through. Given that this is the main thoroughfare in Castlegar, crosswalk lights do seem a good idea. These are at the intersection of 4th Street, pretty much in the centre of downtown.
The solar panel on the west side of the street is mostly covered by trees, meaning that in the summer it will provide power only during the earliest part of the day.
