The Terry Schrunk Plaza is located across from Portland City Hall at the 1200 block of SW Third Avenue. Terry Schrunk was the Mayor of Portland from 1967 to 1973. With its brick amphitheater, bronze monument and Taihu Rock, the plaza has a checkered past as a former location of flophouses, an armed forces recruiting center, and a parking lot. The 16-ton Taihu Rock, a gift from Portland's sister city Suzhou, has steel bracing installed for safety.
