Spirit Square, at the junction of Yew Street and Mackenzie Avenue, has an interesting history lesson, spread out over about 15 bronze plaques encircling a large open area of concrete and tile. They cover a wide array of local subjects.

Brocklehurst, named after Ernest Brocklehurst, is a neighborhood of Kamloops. It is on the north shore of the Thompson River, across from the west end of Kamloops.
ERNEST BROCKLEHURST

Remittance man, Ernest Brocklehurst, came to Kamloops in 1900, built a fine house and planted orchards on the North Shore. He imported a small pack of foxhounds from Britain so he could continue his love of fox hunting. Brocklehurst returned to England with his family in 1907, never to return.
