Merritt, British Columbia is nicknamed the "Country Music Capital of Canada"
Annually for the last 12 years Merritt hosts the Mountain Music Festival. The festival draws over 15,000 fans that come to Merritt to enjoy the music of some of Country Music biggest stars.
In 2004, M. (Michelle) Laughery created this masterpiece in the world of mural art. This is one of eighty murals she has to her credit throughout British Columbia.
Alan Jackson: Alan Eugene Jackson was born October 17, 1958 in Newnan, Georgia. He is known for blending traditional honky-tonk and country sounds and has written many of his own hits songs.
During his career he has recorded fourteen studio albums, three Greatest Hits, two Christmas, and two Gospel albums.
He has sold over 80 million records worldwide, so far, with thirty-five number-one hits. He is a superstar when it comes to county music as he is the recipient of two Grammys, sixteen CMA Awards, and seventeen ACM Awards. He is a member of the Grand Ole Opry, and was inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame in 2001.
