This cut mark is on the side wall of Bridge 182 on the Leeds Liverpool Canal next to the tow path. The bridge carries Skipton Road over the canal, and is called Snaygill Bridge after a nearby pub.

This bench mark was used during the First primary levelling, England & Wales, and was levelled with a height of 348.9160 feet [106.3496 metres] above mean sea level (Liverpool datum). It was included on the Milner's Bridge to Bradford levelling line. The surveyor's description was No. 114. Bolt in South face of Snaygill Bridge, over canal ; 4.04 ft. above surface. link

Many of the bridges on the Leeds Liverpool canal, including this one, have the arch stones painted white to aid navigation. The cut mark has therefore been painted white.
