This time capsule is on the grounds of the Haywood County Courthouse in Waynesville, North Carolina. The capsule was buried in the southwest corner of the courthouse lawn on July 4, 1976, to be opened on July 4, 2076. The Capsule is marked by a large boulder with a plaque bearing the inscription:
CENTURY VAULT
Here in are mementoes from the people of the year A.D. 1976 to the people of the year A.D. 2076.
Sealed during our bicentennial celebration.
