This is one of several old pieces of machinery at the Greenwood Museum/Visitor Centre, some identifiable, some a total mystery. Find the museum right on Main Street (Copper Street) at Deadwood Street, toward the north edge of the business district.

All machines are either outside in a covered building or in the visitor centre and are free to view.

Yes, this Engine is a total mystery to us. It is hand cranked, has two sets of ratchets and pawls, some gearing, and various other levers and pieces that move in mysterious ways and directions. I couldn't even guess what this machine's purpose was. Given the theme of the museum, the mining heyday of Greenwood, when everyone in town depended either on nearby mines or the town's smelter for employment, it was likely intended to serve a related purpose.
Type of Machine: Brainbuster

Year the machine was built: ca 1900

Is there online documentation for this machine: [Web Link]

Year the machine was put on display: Not listed
