Jenna Leland from Rancho Trabuco 2 Service Unit's Troop 248, coordinated a large construction effort at her church during the spring of 2014, transforming a barren stretch of unused property into an irrigated fruit orchard. She wrote grants and solicited donations, and worked with Rain Bird Irrigation on how to bring water to the area. She also organized an annual food drive in which the fruit from the orchard will also be harvested.
For a video of her project see "First Fruits Project - Rain Bird RWS Mini Root Watering System" on YouTube

According to the Orange County Register:
"Joining the growing frenzy are two of CLC’s youth, Jenna Leland and Nikki Notthoff. Both are senior members of the Girl Scouts of the United States of America and are seeking the Gold Award – the highest award in scouting for young women. The girls are focusing their individual projects on growing fresh produce in CLC’s community garden to contribute to local food banks and homeless shelters."
