The Soldiers' Monument is located on the Town Common between Broad Street and Barre Road in the center of Barre , MA

A 30' tall monument has a fluted marble shaft topped with an eagle perched on a ball above a square block of marble with recessed panels on each side. The marble monument rests on a square granite base with scrolls on each corner. A white cast iron fence surrounds the monument. The monument was installed in 1866.

Below the column: BARRE HONORS HER PATRIOTIC DEAD

Above a carved scene of a returning soldier: JOY FOR THE RETURNED; TEARS FOR THOSE THAT COME NOT AGAIN

On the bottom of the marble monument: GETTYSBURG.

On the granite base:
