Das Hochwasser 2002 war das Verheerendste seit fast 100 Jahren und wird daher auch als Jahrhundertflut bezeichnet. Damals stieg der Pegel der Elbe auf 7,16m und forderte insgesamt mindestens 49 Todesopfer. An dieser Stell befindet sich eine Gedenkmarke mit dem damaligen Höchststand der 2,2 km entfernten Elbe.

The 2002 flood was the most devastating since almost 100 years and is therefore also called flood of the century. At that time the level of the Elbe rose to 7,16m and claimed a total of at least 49 fatalities. There is a commemorative stamp with the former peak of 2.2 km from the River Elbe at this point.
