Before the completion of the new Walnut Grove Bridge in 1965, this lighthouse was an important navigational aid along the Mokelumne River in Walnut Grove, California.
In 1965, the lighthouse was decommissioned and almost demolished. A local Artist salvaged the top and rebuilt the base at his own property.
With light flowing in from all directions, the lighthouse top now makes a perfect artist's studio. |
