Between Pleasant Valley and Winding Stairs Road in Steuben County runs a foot trail up Mt Washington. This trail register is near the top of the hill.

The registers along the Finger Lakes Trail are generally closer to road access points than this one, and if I had to guess why this one was so much deeper in the woods, I'd say it was to highlight the spur trail to the bivouac site (signs and blazes visible in my pics).
