To reach the summit, drive to the Adirondack Loj visitors center ($10 parking for the day), and follow the signs from the Van Hovenburg Trail trailhead. Www.adirondack.net claims it's a 9.6 mile round trip which takes an average of 9 hours to complete, but it also says that Iroquois takes 8.5 hours going up over the top of Algonquin. My daughter and I completed the hike to Iroquois (overtop Algonquin each way) in 10 hours.
