Located just off Hwy 140 and just north of Lake of the Woods are a number of wooden structures that were once a ranger station and a work center in the 1930s through the 1960s and possibly 1970s. These structures included cabins utilized as living quarters as well as maintenance facilities. They were all built by the Civilian Conservation Corps as part of the New Deal program enacted by then-president Franklin Roosevelt.

One of the wooden structures within this cloister of buildings is a former front office to the ranger station which contains a homemade mailbox standing in front. The mailbox blends in nicely with its surrounding and looks to be still in use today.

The property belongs to the Bureau of Land Management and is leased to the nearby Lake of the Woods Resort. The cabins have been converted into seasonal rentals and other buildings remain unused or for storage.
