The cave has been worn into the cliffs by the action of the sea which picks up small stones from the rocky shore & moves them in & out of the cave. It has a wide entrance then slopes to the back which is approx. 22 metres in. You can stand up at the entrance which would be 12 metres high. At the very back it is only possible to sit.

The rocks are of igneous origin with a dyke just to the north of the entrance.
