When these 2 L open or separated and there is wind, the sound may not be smooth but you can hear a sound, it is on
This impressive 29-foot-high sculpture was created by George Rickey when he was 74 years of age and is among his largest works. The innovative excentric motion, which he pioneered, is based on his experimentation with conical sections that he developed when he was well into his 60s. Rickey figured out that if the conical sections are placed in such a way that they do not intersect, and the sculpture’s motion is transcribed within those sections, the large “L’s” will never hit each.
The “L”s are supported by a small “Y” jack and shift in a series of subtly smooth movements. One moment rigid, cool, erect, the next fluid and soaring, the sculpture comes as close as Rickey ever did to implying the human body in one of his works, while its scale ensures an active dialogue with campus architecture.other.http://wcma.williams.edu/module_item/double-l-excentric-gyratory-ii/
