The Legionnaires of Eckville have a very nice concrete block lodge building on 51st Avenue, immediately west of the town hall.

With a large sign on the front of the building, it becomes quite easy to spot. A large stone war memorial at the front corner of the building, naturally placed by the Legion, aids in the finding. Unfortunately, though the building is easily found, further information on Branch 156 is not.
Eckville is a small farming town in central Alberta which also relies on lumbering and the oil patch for employment. It is surrounded by oil and gas fields, as are a great many communities in the province. Named after the town's founder, Arthur E.T. Eckford, the landowner of the original Eckville, it moved to its present location to be nearer the Northern Alberta Railroad, which bypassed the original townsite. It was incorporated as a village in 1921 and a town in 1966. It presently has a population of about 1,150 and serves a rural area of roughly similar population.
Eckville is the home of Skeleton Racer, World Cup Champion and Olympic Bronze Medalist, Mellisa Hollingsworth.
