Brown & Son Blacksmiths were established ca. 1879 in the village of Stella. John Robinson first owned it, then sold it to John Brown in 1894. The original building burnt in 1913, but was soon replaced by the present day building, and added to with the smaller outbuilding in front.
The blacksmith remained a viable staple of the village until 1971.
It is curently in private hands, but there are ongoing efforts to repair and restore the facilities, complete with smithy demonstrations, etc.
