The Frontenac Axis is a Canadian Shield bedrock ridge located along the southern shore of the St Lawrence River.

It separates the Adirondacks to the south with the Canadian Shield to the north, and runs from the mouth of Lake Ontario to eastern Quebec.

The marker was placed in honour of local Alexandria Bay resident George Brown, who was the main mover behind the nearby Casino Island reclamation project.
