On February 15, 1861 Abraham Lincoln's train from Springfield, Ill. to Washington, D.C. stopped in Alliance, Ohio. He gave a short speech from the back of the train. He was going to Washington D.C. to be inaugurated as the sixteenth president of the United States. The stone marker was dedicated on October 30, 1934. It is erected from stone taken from his Kentucky farm. The bronze plaque was cast in Alliance. The inscription reads WITH MALICE TOWARD NONE.

Location Notes: The monument is located at the E. end of Main Street where it dead end at the railroad station. it is next to the parking lot about 50 feet from the tracks. It has a small flower garden around it.
