I was going through old photos and came across this one of a benchmark I ran across while hiking on 11/12/1980, before the advent of widely available portable GPS technology, at Haw Creek Falls natural area, in the Ozark region of Arkansas. The coords listed are projected for the actual benchmark, but not confirmed from the ground. I can not know for certain if it is still there & visible after 34 years. I am hoping a local hiker may be able to verify if it is still there and, if so, provide accurate coords.
I no longer live in Arkansas and am now 65 years old, so I doubt that I will aver again try to physically locate this benchmark. I was able to locate the topo map for this area and have uploaded a screen shot of it. I have circled in red the area where I am sure this benchmark is located. This would place it approx a mile south of Haw Creek Falls Rec Area. I have no training in reading these benchmarks, but am fairly certain that the "30 | 29" mark indicates that it lies on the red boundary line between those sections.
