The Chapel of Our Señora de la Blanca of Villablanca was built by the Marquis of Ayamonte.
The village was built later, in the sixteenth century. So cults and everything related to the Church were held in the chapel.
The Village Parish was later built, first called Puebla de Santa Maria la Blanca.
According to tradition, the Virgin appeared to a shepherd who kept his cattle in these fields. The image was a white dove, hence the name of the White Lady. The dove perched on an olive tree, and in this tree was built the most important place of the chapel: the the Virgin´s chapel.
The chapel dates from the late fourteenth century.
Although the chapel has its origins in the fourteenth century, she has received many subsequent modifications. At first it only had a central nave and lateral porches, of which vestiges remain as brick arches in the walls. Subsequently, these porches became sidewalls. The last reconstruction was in 1999.
