Palace Fonte da Pipa - Loulé, Faro, Portugal - Ghosts and Hauntings on Waymarking.com

This is one of the most famous abandoned buildings in the Portuguese Geocaching imaginary.
It seat´s just outside of the city of Loulé, kind of close to the main road, although not visible from there.
It´s kind of mind blowing how the authorities allow such a crime, leaving this kind of places unattended but we all (geocaching community) appreciate it! :)
All the doors and the windows are opened and it´s a clear invitation to vandalism and so. Also mind blowing it´s the (kind of) good shape of the entire structure... no graffiti, no fire damage, no garbage (taken into it) except for broken glass and paper dossiers.

"In 1875, lawyer and Deputy Mayor of Loulé, Marçal Paheco, purchased the land of Fonte da Pipa in order to build a palace similar to those he had seen on his European travels. The architect is the same one who designed the Loulé Municipal Market. Quinta da Fonte da Pipa has its own share of ghost stories, ghosts and strange sounds. It is possible there is nothing material to these stories, but rather fictitious accounts devised to keep unwanted people away from the property. Yet, others maintain paranormal activity could be a result of numerous victims of the pneumonia epidemic of 1916-18 who are purported to be buried on the grounds."

So, the ghosts will be of the pneumonia victims buried in the local.

Public access?: For now, as we (the Portugues geocaching community) can tell, there´s no restriction to access the location. Even so, the Palace can be seen without problems from the road, just by parking the car and looking over the (1 meter or so high) wall.
