The Sulphur Post Office is a one-story red brick building, located at 1100 W. 2nd Street. This is a no-frills square building with few embellishments. The main entry, however, is elaborate with double doors surrounded by a large stone facade which includes the doorway and the windows on either side. Above, the stone is engraved with three leaf branches and the words "UNITED STATES POST OFFICE / SULPHUR, OKLAHOMA".
A wide, seven-step stone stairway leads to the entrance, with stone wing walls. The building was constructed by the WPA in 1937. In the main lobby is a WPA mural titled "Romance of the Mail" which was painted in 1941.
Project type: Government building (non-park)
