Der Elsterstausee Bösdorf liegt an der südlichen Stadtgrenze von Leipzig in Sachsen, westlich des Cospudener Sees.
Der Stausee wurde in den Jahren 1933 bis 1935 östlich der Orte Hartmannsdorf und Bösdorf angelegt; er war damals etwa 1800 Meter lang und 800 Meter breit. Er wurde vom seit dem Mittelalter bestehenden Elstermühlgraben gespeist, der bis in die 1970er Jahre den Hauptteil des Elsterwassers führte. Anfänglich diente der See außerdem zur Fischzucht, ab 1950 auch zu Erholungszwecken.
Bis 2009 wurde der Stausee zur Erholung genutzt, unter anderem zum Baden, Segeln und Ruderbootfahren. Er war einer der wenigen Seen in Deutschland, die zum Eissegeln geeignet waren.
Der See ist zurzeit in seinem Bestand gefährdet. Die Sohle des Sees ist seit etwa 2005 undicht, so dass der Wasserspiegel absank bzw. nur mit großen Aufwand stabil gehalten werden konnte. Im Sommer 2009 war er fast vollständig ausgetrocknet. Im Juni 2009 beschloss der Leipziger Stadtrat den Elsterstausee zu retten, wenn das wirtschaftlich vertretbar ist. Er beauftragte hierzu ein Gutachten, das im Frühjahr 2010 abgeschlossen wurde. Dort werden verschiedene Varianten zur Rettung des Sees beschrieben. Im Herbst 2010 schloss die Stadt Leipzig einen fünf Jahre gültigen Pachtvertrag ab. Damit sollen auf dem Seegrund weidende Schafe eine Verwaldung des Gebiets verhindern.
Im Gegensatz zu den 90er Jahren, wo der See kurz vor dem aus stand und nur der Druck der Leipziger Bevölkerung ihn damals retten konnte, ist er heute leider vollkommen ausgetrocknet und ein einstiger schöner Bade- und Segelort somit zu einem wahren Lost Place geworden. Dennoch kommen immer noch viele Spaziergänger und Radfahrer vorbei. Der Kiosk von damals an einem Ende des Sees hat außerdem immer noch geöffnet.

The Elsterstausee Bösdorf located on the southern outskirts of Leipzig in Saxony, in the west of the Lake Cospuden.
The Elsterstausee was built in the years 1933-1935 in the east of the places Hartmannsdorf and Bösdorf; he was then about 1800 meters long and 800 meters wide. He was fed by the existing since the Middle Ages Elstermühlgraben, which led the majority of the Elster water up till the 1970s. Initially, the lake was used also for fish farming, in 1950 for recreational purposes as well.
Till 2009, the Stausee was used for recreation, like swimming, sailing and rowing. He was one of the few lakes in Germany, which were suitable for ice sailing.
The lake is currently at risk in its stock. The sole of the lake is leaking since about 2005, so that the water level plummeted and remained stable only with great effort. In the summer of 2009, he was almost completely dried up. In June 2009, the Leipzig town council decided to save the Elsterstausee, if that is economically viable. The town council commissioned a report, which was completed in spring 2010. He commissioned this, a report which was completed in spring 2010. There are various options to save the lake described. Nevertheless, many walkers and cyclists still pass today. The former kiosk at one end of the lake has still open, too.
