The city of Whitefish has recently built themselves a new Emergency Services Centre on the southern outskirts of the city. It contains city courts, a police station and a fire station.

The department, with two stations, has 15 career firefighters and 30 volunteers, who are on a paid per call basis. Many on the staff are also EMTs. Of the two fire stations in Whitefish, this one is known as Station 21 and is now their headquarters station. The city's ISO Rating, for properties within the city, is Class 4. Outside the city the rating is Class 10.
As of 2014 the Whitefish City Fire Department is 105 years old. It responds to calls in an 84 square mile area surrounding the city with a full and part-time estimated population of 8,000. It has not been revealed how many pieces of apparatus the department has at its disposal.
