The sign out front says "Bar-B-Q," and that's really why you should visit this gem of North Texas barbecue joints. However, if you really want something else, they have an eclectic menu that includes steaks, soups, salads, burgers and other sandwiches (and a reuben), chicken fried steak, German sausage, pizza, and fish. As mentioned, the important stuff is the barbecue, and you have a choice of brisket (chopped or sliced), pork ribs, smoked turkey breast, smoked ham, German sausage, and hot links. Bulk purchases of meat by the pound can be made to-go only, but they have small and large plates as well as combo plates. Try the Butcher's Platter for $15.99, where you get to pick out five meats. Given the proximity to Muenster and the significant German population here, the German sausage is worth a try, and German potato salad joins your sides of pinto beans, green beans, slaw, potato salad, fries, fried okra, and onion rings. You may also add a baked potato or salad for another dollar. Those looking to go on the cheap can get a baked potato for $2.99, with a glass of water.
This is a very large restaurant, with plenty of truck parking available up front for those who are making the long trek between Gainesville and Wichita Falls. They may appear to be busy, but there's room for everybody, and the service is wonderful. You may sit at a table or dine at the bar, and they have a small beer and wine menu which includes some of the local wines from Forestburg and Saint Jo. If you have room for dessert, their pies are homemade, and you have your choice of apple, chocolate, pecan, or coconut.
